It was hardly surprising that Barack Obama flip-flopped on the issue of using public-funded financing for the Presidential campaign. Obama’s opinions change with the wind. Whatever seems to be the best thing to do at the time will be what Obama does. At this point, he knows he can escape almost scot-free when it comes to his political u-turns, as he is still the blue-eyed boy in the eyes of many in the media. The fact that he has broken his promise on this issue of campaign financing should have resulted in much media scrutiny of his character and integrity; one knows John McCain faces these character examinations should he so much as sneeze at the wrong time.
Sadly, it is also not unexpected that the liberals have continued to pump out negative, distorted attack ads even at this early stage in the campaign. They continue to use the misquoted “100 years” comment despite the fact that McCain was very clear about the circumstances of troop presence in the Middle East. One of the latest ads supporting Obama shows a woman and her baby; the woman angrily tells the viewers that her son will never be in the US military. To paraphrase, she states that McCain will not get her baby – alluding to the fact that McCain is prepared to send American troops to foreign countries to safeguard American values of freedom and democracy.
It is somewhat ironic that such liberals, who are against the notion that their offspring should have the freedom to choose to join the US military, are the same people in favour of abortion, which removes the right of a human being to live. It seems strange that they have no qualms about destroying life in its early stages, but are concerned to protect the lives of humans later on - even going as far as promising to try to prevent their offspring from exercising their right to lead their lives as they see fit.
These contradictions in values are part of the liberal package and, therefore, part of the Obama package.
