Olbermann’s Insanity

May 15, 2008

Tonight, Keith Olbermann on his ‘show’ on MSNBC took the opportunity to offer another ‘special’ comment to the nation – actually, the few hundred thousand viewers of his programme. Most of his special comments take the form of a raging attack on President Bush and tend to side with the Jihadists and any other anti-American group/country/individuals. Today’s effort was no exception.

Olbermann criticised American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, denouncing the American-led Coalition as being “cold-blooded” killers and accusing Americans of being war criminals. He felt President Bush was being dishonest when he mentioned that the Jihadists would prefer a Democrat as President – this is not speculation, it is clearly true. The Dems want to retreat and wave the white flag of surrender… both candidates have promised they will pull out the troops as soon as they become President. Olbermann was incensed at the idea that the extremists might attack the United States again – he seems to have fallen for the wishy-washy rhetoric of those living in the liberal bubble. That is, America is only attacked becasue of Bush’s policies. In his minute mind, if we pull out of Iraq and stop attacking the terrorists, they will love us and never harm Western civilisation again. Yes, Keith, and the Big Bad Wolf lived happily ever after with Little Red Riding Hood.

Olbermann accuses Bush of lying but in almost the same breath labels John McCain as Bush’s twin – clearly disregarding what his own cable network has been broadcasting for the past 7 years… McCain’s displeasure with Rumsfeld and certain planks of the Bush policies.

Olbermann, in his selfish little world, surrounded by yes-people, is guilty of many of the charges he levels at Bush, most of which involve dishonesty. He believes he knows what’s best for the American voter and so he ignores the extremist views of Barack and Michelle Obama, and their confidants, he belittles Hillary Clinton’s triumphs against the O-man, and he treats McCain with contempt. Olbermann lost the plot months ago. He seems to blame America for the world’s woes. We all know who he wants to win in the war on terror – it’s not the good guys.

Barack Obama – Puppet on a String?

May 15, 2008

Barack Obama has been singled out for praise by most commentators in the mainstream media for being a breath of fresh air in the stagnant atmosphere of American politics. Many have been willing to overlook his lack of substance or original thought because they have been taken in by his promises of change and his hopes for a golden future. These fans of the O-man were somewhat taken aback by his rather indifferent attitude to the so-called Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s crazed rantings on America, Jews and AIDS conspiracy theories. Somewhat taken aback was about as far as the criticism of Obama went in liberal circles until Wright reiterated his extremist views to anyone who would listen – Obama was forced to disown his spiritual guide… about 20 years too late.

Christopher Hitchens, in another piercing and thought-provoking essay at Slate.com, raises some excellent points about the influence of Obama’s wife, Michelle, and her extremism. Could she be the guiding force behind Obama, and is he merely the benign façade covering some disturbingly extreme views held by his wife? If so, will these extremist ideas come to the fore, if he were to be elected President? Hitchens seems to think so…

“So numbed have I become by the endless replay of the fatuous clerical rantings of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright that it has taken me this long to remember the significant antecedent. In 1995, there appeared a documentary titled Brother Minister about the assassination of Malcolm X. It contained a secretly filmed segment showing Louis Farrakhan shouting at the top of his lungs in the Nation of Islam’s temple in Chicago on “Savior’s Day” in 1993. Farrakhan, verging on hysteria, demanded to know of the murdered Malcolm X: “If we dealt with him like a nation deals with a traitor, what the hell business is it of yours?” His apparent admission of what had long been suspected—that it was the Black Muslim leadership that ordered Malcolm’s slaying—is not understood or remembered (or viewed) as often as it might be.

I invite you to look at the film of Farrakhan’s sweating, yelling, paranoid face and to bear in mind that this depraved thug, who boasts of “dealing with” one of black America’s moral heroes, is the man praised by Jeremiah Wright and referred to with respect as “Minister Farrakhan” by the senator who hopes to be the next president of the United States.”

Hitchens continues…

“the Philly speech [about race, Wright, and Obama's racist grandmother] was a failure on every level, and if it was a failure on every level, and thus left Obama hideously vulnerable to the very next speech made by his foaming pastor, then that must raise questions of eligibility for the highest office.

“All right, then, how is it that the loathsome Wright married him, baptized his children, and received donations from him? Could it possibly have anything, I wonder, to do with Mrs. Obama?”

“If there is a reason why the potential nominee has been keeping what he himself now admits to be very bad company—and if the rest of his character seems to make this improbable—then either he is hiding something and/or it is legitimate to ask him about his partner.

I recommend you read the whole essay, Are We Getting Two For One?, for it raises an issue, so far swept under the carpet… the influence of Michelle Wright and whether it is good for America.

Obama’s Elitist Snobbery

May 6, 2008

While many had suspected for some time that Barack Obama looked down from on high upon the millions of Americans in middle America who might actually vote for him, it was only when he uttered those famous words about the typical white guy bitterly hanging on to his gun and finding solace in his religion that the nation woke up to who Obama really is. Obama is happy when ‘average’ Americans flock to his rallies, bleating like sheep his Bob the Builder mantra, “Yes, we can!” and viewing him as some kind of saviour – Obama will fix it… plays over in their minds. Clearly, he would be less happy actually conducting any kind of conversation with the same people on a personal level. Who knows, he might catch something.

This eilitism is not new in liberal politics as Jeff Greenfield points out at Slate.com…

Elitism has bedeviled American liberalism for the better part of four decades. It undermined the presidential campaigns of Al Gore and John Kerry, and now it’s making mischief in the Obama campaign every bit as much as the omnipresence of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.       (Obama and Orwell, What The Master Brit Can teach Democrats About Elistism, May 1 2008)

It is an interesting article and one I recommend to people of all political persuasions. I particularly enjoyed the references to Orwell, as The Road To Wigan Pier is a firm favourite of mine, offering insight into the lives of the working man, the English public (ie private) schoolboy, and the homeless, among others, with wit and a sharp eye. The book is available online – I challenge you to read the first page or so of chapter one and not be intrigued enough to read on. I look forward to your take on this work…

Olbermann’s Self-inflated Ego…

May 6, 2008

Keith Olbermann’s ego, which he personally inflates every night with the aid of the usual cronies of the liberal elite media, must surely be in danger of bursting. Once a minor satirist, now a self-promoting apologist for all things anti-American, Olbermann’s show has survived for tworeasons. Firstly, it is on a cable news network that few care to watch. Secondly, he’s taken the easy option of being a Bush-basher, an anti-war, anti-American, and anti-Western Civilisation ‘journalist’ – something that is guaranteed to gain him good press in the wishy-washy world of the liberal media.

Tonight, once again, he took the opportunity to attack Senator McCain. The criticisms of McCain were exaggerations of the facts at best, or childish lies at worst. His partner in crime this evening was a certain Matt Taibii, dubious author of a deeply troubling book that supports the anti-American conspiracy ideas behind 9/11 among other disturbing notions. They took it in turns to take swipes at McCain, to back each other up and to mock America. At one point, Olbermann made light of the “post-9/11″ world – he is an offensive cretin if he does not believe most people’s lives in the western world were altered by 9/11. Our whole outlook on the world, our security, religious extremism had to change.

Olbermann and Taibii spoke in circles and contradictions; at one point, criticising McCain for changing his opinions, and then pseudo-praising him for not blindly sticking to certain conviction. One would hope a politician could modify his views on issues over the course of several decades – it would be very concerning if he held exactly the same views in 2008 as in 1988. The world is constantly changing.

Taibii guffawed when mentioning that McCain had voted against his own bills in the Senate. Neither he nor Olbermann bothered to mention that he voted against some of his own proposed bills owing to their final state and content when they were presented to senators for the vote.

I do not want to waste any more of your time with Olbermann quotations or comments. All I will add is the following… Olbermann has put his eggs in the Obama basket. Two peas in a pod… two leftist elitists, out of touch with the people and often offending middle America. Hopefully, 2008 will bring an end to their negative, anti-American tripe they both try to force down the throats of their audience.
